In 2022, the Regional History Museum – Pazardjik won a project entitled: „Revitalization of the space and renovation of the exposition in the „Archaeology“ hall of the Regional History Museum – Pazardjik“ under Program RA 14 „Cultural entrepreneurship, heritage and cooperation“, Result 1 „Improved cultural heritage management’, Sub-result 1.1 ‘Cultural heritage represented in revitalized, restored and renovated places’ under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021.
The maximum grant amount for one project proposal was 400,000 euros, of which the Regional History Museum – Pazardzhik, a project beneficiary, won funding worth 399,713.29 euros or 781,771.24 BGN. Our project was ranked at the prestigious third place out of a total of 14 projects that received funding.
The project proposal was written by an employee of the museum, and this fact speaks of a solid administrative potential of the institution.
The project envisages the creation of a new exhibition in the „Archaeology“ hall of the Regional History Museum – Pazardzhik on an area of 350 square meters, in accordance with all standards and requirements for presenting the cultural heritage to the public.
With the received 100% funding at the expense of the donor countries – the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Iceland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, we will fulfill our ambitious intentions – to exhibit some of the most valuable and interesting archaeological artifacts from the museum’s fund, to attract a new and diverse audience, on which to provide a different experience, aesthetic delight and feeling, satisfying every educational and spiritual need in the encounter with the archaeological heritage.
Our aspiration is for the exposition to rank among the best museum expositions in Europe.
The maximum term for the implementation of project No. BGCULTURE-1.001-0008 entitled „Revitalization of the space and renovation of the exposition in the „Archaeology“ hall of the Regional History Museum – Pazardzhik“ under Program RA 14 „Cultural entrepreneurship, heritage and cooperation“ is 21 months, and the activities will be completed by 30.04.2024 at the latest.
The need to create a new exposition in the „Archaeology“ hall, besides the fact that the current one is morally and physically outdated, was provoked by the new role of museums in the 21st century, which are becoming cultural objects, seeking active provocation of thought and implementation of interactive technologies through which a highly emotional and exciting environment will be built, recreating realistic objects, events and situations.
The harmonious and balanced design with good functionality and marked expressiveness, including high-tech methods for the presentation of cultural values, fully in line with the thematic exhibition plan and the specifics of the exhibition space, will turn the archaeological exposition of the Regional History Museum – Pazardzhik into an attractive and preferred space.
There is an official presentation of the project at an information meeting at the end of September 2022.
